ITV’s Coronation Street has celebrated its 60th anniversary. Originally scheduled for a mere six week run, the show’s first episode aired on 9 December 1960 and has continued to be broadcast every week since, making it the longest running soap in the world.
ITV marked the auspicious occasion with explosive storylines, new aerial pictures of the UK’s most famous street, a live on-line show and a Race to the Rovers live twitter feed.
Working with Marcus Lamb of SevenStars Broadcast, MCR provided a full RF solution to facilitate the live online show and twitter feed.
Stephen Treanor, Technical Manager – Coronation Street at ITV Studios said: “We received a first-class service from Marcus Lamb and MCR. They played a major role in the success of our live on-line show celebrating 60 years of Coronation Street. The Sony Z750 Camcorders they supplied along with Videosys Telemetry gave us the perfect solution, lightweight, compact with seamless RF coverage provided by the DTC RF.”
